The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Both Ashe Wednesday and Good Friday are universal days of fast and abstinence.
Each Friday of Lent is an obligatory day of abstinence. The norm for fasting applies to ages 18 to 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal and two smaller meals. Abstinence from meat is binding from ages 14 onward.
Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims to Jerusalem who would retrace the journey of Jesus Christ along the Via Dolorosa to Calvary. Later, for any who wanted to pass along this route, but could not make the trip to Jerusalem, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently found in almost every church.
Join us each Friday at 7:30 P.M. during Lent for this traditional devotion.
